Dukkah is a condiment that has been around for hundreds of years, and was even written about as a peasant food in the 19th century. It’s become more present on the food scene in recent years thanks to a rising interest in regionally-inspired eating. Though this condiment originated in Egypt it has moved beyond northern African and has been adopted into Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking. Dukkah is nutty, rich, earthy, and warming, with bright tart and minty notes.
Recommended for: dips, vegetables, breads, breading for chicken or fish
